Today we woke up to hot weather right of the bat. Typically our mornings were about 13-15 degrees, but today was nearly 20 when we woke up, which was the same time as every other day! Our morning started with swahili lessons once again, then we started the task of making a new trash pit! The other one was getting full so we began the process of building a new one which started with us whacking down all the plants and bushes with flat metal pile type things. Once it was cleared we started outlining and figuring it where the piles would be and where we would dig the trench. We spent a couple of hours digging in the 27 degree weather so when it was time for lunch we were all pretty excited. We had dug all the holes for the likes and dug the outer trench which was about 10 feet long and 7 ish feet wide. After working in the heat we were not extremely thrilled to have more ugali (mixture of flour and water) and beans for lunch, but it was nice to have some sort of fuel! After lunch we walked almost 2 km to a public primary school nearby where we spent time playing with the kids. We walked back in time to catch the tail end of the Form 1 WISH class. WISH stands for Women of Integrity, Strength, and Hope. As an all female school this was most of the girls favourite classes. The teacher was so incredible I could have listened to her for hours! After wish we had dinner then some free time, evening meeting and then we went to bed. It was such an exhausting day that the mooing cows and squawking chickens didn’t even keep us awake when we tried to go to bed.
