It’s the weekend! I think this is one of the best saturday’s I have ever had. Our morning started with sports at 6:45 am where we played an intense game of basketball. Then we had breakfast and went to our second swahili lesson. After swahili we split into groups and just went around doing whatever work needed to be done. I helped dig some holes for trees to be planted then we went up near the garden and stables where we helped mix a gigantic hill of sourgum with molasses and water which is used as the cow feed in times of drought. It was a sticky mess let me tell you!!! After that we helped carry drinking water to the dining hall water bucket. After lunch it was time for “entertainment” which turned out to be some of the best 2 hours of my life. In part of the dining hall they had a tv and on saturdays the girls get a few hours to watch movies or play music so they were so excited! When I say Kenyans can dance, I sure mean it. Every single song all the girls and us muzungus were up and squished in between the tables dancing and singing at the top of our lungs (to the english songs) and it was just some of the best bonding ever. The girls tried to teach us how to dance but let’s just say it didn’t go well for any of us! They can dance so well and for every single song they have a different dance it’s insane!! After entertainment we had dinner then free time to hang out with the girls and do our assigned readings in our course readers. What a day!
